Amazing education at Acton-Boxborough Regional High, Apr 27, 2009
I grew up in Acton and attended McCarthy-Towne, R.J. Grey Jr. High, and ABRHS, graduating in the late 1990s. I had a very positive experience with the education system and can't recommend it highly enough. My freshman year of college at an Ivy League university was a breeze due to the great prep and coaching I received from the teachers and staff at ABRHS. Looking back, the education I received with truly high caliber and I owe it to my teachers for preparing me to be the adult I am today. To them, I say "Thank-you!"

I applaud anyone who moves to Acton for the schools. Sure, the taxes are high. But it's worth it. Trust me.

HELLO, I AM AN AB student and I just wanted to let you know that my SCHOOL IS THE BEST EVER. MY SCHOOL'S CURRICULUM IS NOT BEHIND AND I TRULY BELIEVE THAT EVERY COLLEGE EVER WILL COME LOOK AT US AND WOULD GIVE A SCHOLARSHIP TO AN INTELLIGENT HONORS STUDENT SUCH AS I. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. GOOD BYE.

Special Education, Sep 28, 2005
Reviewer: Frank from Acton, MA

We are parents of 16 yr old girl and 18 year old son and moved to Acton three years ago. My daughter finds the school academically challenging, yet good. My son has learning disabilities. This school is not prepared or focused upon special needs students. They thrive upon success, and devote the time and energy of the entire school to hyperachievement.

Parent advocacy is discouraged in spite of a 2004 parent study indicating that there were numerous parents facing similar issues with interpretation of Public Law, the need and administering for testing, and "Least Restrictive Environment/Free and Appropriate Education" considerations. Civil Rights issues are laughed at.

The ABHS administration will probably applaud this write up, for it will discourage families with special needs from registering into a hyperachiever system. ACTON-BOXBOROUGH IS A GOOD SCHOOL, BUT IT GROSSLY LACKS IN SPECIAL NEEDS SUPPORT AND INTEREST and fights parents to the hilt on support.
