Pretty good atmosphere BUT...., Aug 22, 2006 |
| My comment is this, money does not make a school system. People make a school system and a process of educating young people is what needs most effort. There seems to be a mind set of just hire more people, spend more money, and students will get a better education. This is a fallacy. Recruitment scrutiny is the first step, and establishing a consistant process with heavy parental involvement is the only way to improve overall education and student body success. The recent prop 2.5 override for 3-4 million does not guarantee student academic improvement. What it does is limit family budgets at the middle income levels and the ability to provide less stressful family life. |

School Ranking, May 27, 2006 |
| I was under the impression that Oliver Ames High School in Easton MA had a much better ranking than shown on your chart. The quality of the teachers, advancement courses, spirit and quality of the student are superb. How can this be changed so that our students get a better education? The townspeople certainly put a large amount of their taxes toward the school program. Is it because the teachers have tenure and don't put forth the effort to TEACH our children? We are building a large addition to the high school. Are we going to now produce a greater amount of students that will be as unprepared as the previous classes? Could I please get a response to ease my mind. I still think it's a great high school!!!!! |
