FCAT is wonderful but the schools always complain about money, May 16, 2010
Without standardized testing, all schools rate themselves as A schools. The FCAT helps to overcome that problem. It also forces teachers to teach to a standard that isn't based on their own views of what should be taught.

You can trace the rise of FL schools in the state-by-state comparison rankings by looking at when the FCAT was introduced.

One big negative to the FL schools system is the constant campaigning by the teachers and school districts for more money. They have asked our kids to bring items to school (paper, pens, hand sanitizer, etc.) in order to get extra credit. There is a new fundraiser every week. The FL teaching industry has a problem in that it views money as THE solution to their problems.

FCAT , Aug 12, 2009
The FCAT is a waste of time for our children in Florida. The teachers could spend there time teaching more effective information that would allow our children to become more rounded individuals and help develop their creative minds.

My thoughts on Florida Elementary School, Jun 02, 2009
I absolutely do not agree with the FL school system. I think the FCAT and the idea of teaching only what is needed to pass the test is uncalled for. How is a child supposed to go on for college? They go on unprepared and have a difficult time graduating, that's how.
