| In my opinion, the Girard School District only gives lip service to the gifted program. The latest gifted teacher, the third one in the three years, was in the gifted program at Elk Valley, and is a sham. She was having our daughter work on 3rd grade regular class projects in her 4th grade gifted class. It took the teacher over 2 months to figure out what her lesson plan was going to be for the year. Now that my daughter is in 5th grade she gets nothing extra to challenge her. She maxes out all test scores and the school doesn't even notice. The district does nothing to screen the student population to find the children who would benefit from a more challenging curriculum. I am looking into other schools and determining what school district would be better to live in. |
