The truth about White Swan High School, Feb 25, 2007 |
| My son attended the schools contained in the Mount Adams School District and what a sad state of affairs. The school was under State Educational scrutiny because of the low level of education given to students. The teachers are overworked, and the classrooms are overcrowded. They can't hire good teachers because other districts can pay more. They attempted to institute an improvement committee which is still in place today but little if any improvement has been noticeable. The scandal regarding the teacher suspected of innappropriate behavior with 2 female students (which went to trial) was covered up and the parents had to report the incident to the police themselves after realizing they weren't going to get anywhere with the administration. The worst part of that situation was the District knew of the teachers questionable background yet hired him anyway. This school district is so good it made the news again when several student brutalized physically and sexually the FFA pigs housed on school property. Even with 24 hour security they can't control the happenings. Drug deals, gang fights and all the other typical things that go on in schools in larger districts happens in a school which provides education to what they consider the dregs. Someone needs to step up to the plate and do something about what is going on out there, someone needs to be held accountable. Why for so many years were students graduating who couldn't read beyond 6th grade level??? DO something. I have pulled my son from this school because he can't be any worse off home with me trying to educate him than he would be spending 8 hours out there in that unsafe environment. If you move into this district, stay on your toes, make use of advocates and have a lawyer on retainer. |
