    A student was hit by a vehicle this morning while crossing Ireland Drive, police said. The student, who attends Douglas Byrd Middle School, was not seriously injured, a police spokeswoman said. The student’s name wasn’t available.

    The Roanoke County Public Schools Education Foundation held the annual scholarship awards presentation May 12 at William Byrd Middle School. In all, the Foundation awarded 81 scholarships totaling $63,500.
