| HCHS is a national blue ribbon and TEA exemplary school, located in the heart of the South Texas Medical Center. The mission of HCHS is to prepare students for an occupation in the health care field as well as to strive for career and educational excellence. This is accomplished by integrating academics with the health/medical careers and career courses. Research shows that, on average, students who attend Health Careers succeed through graduate school, and beyond. Consider the following: For the Class of 2006: Class size 205 75% attending 4-yr university/college 17% attending 2-yr college/technical 7% full-time employment/other 1% military On average, HCHS graduates amass a total of $4.07 million in scholarships over a three-year period HCHS has the lowest average drop-out rate in San Antonio and Bexar County: 0% For the ninth consecutive year, the Texas Education Agency has named HCHS an exemplary or recognized school for its high TAAS (Texas Assessment of Academic Skills) scores, and overall excellence as a school. This year MSNBC has rated Health Careers High School (413) in the top 500 high schools in the nation!
