    Whatever happened to the May fete? When I grew up in the 1940's my elementary school always held a very festive May Fest on the school campus. Crockett Elementary School occupied an entire block. The two stories plus a basement occupied most of the front half of the property. A service driveway split the block. The back half was playground and a perfect place for the festivals.
