Jackie Fletcher and Tom Fleck decorate a Christmas tree in front of the Seneca County Courthouse in Tiffin. Members of the Tiffi n Historic Trust were adding a holiday touch this week to the 1884 courthouse, which will be open for public tours from 1 to 3 p.m. Dec. 29 and 30.

The Seneca County Health Department is offering free HIV testing, Tuesday at its S. Washington Street location. The testing is to be offered 9-11:30 a.m. on a walk-in basis. The “clearview” rapid test is to be used. There is no charge for this test and results are available in 15 minutes.
EPA still reviewing Bascom sewer case (The Advertiser-Tribune)

Residents of Bascom and Seneca County officials still are waiting to hear from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency about preliminary plans for a sewer system. Heather Lauer of Ohio EPA said Friday the plan is under review and a response could be sent to the county soon.

The Seneca County Park Board is adding two members to the current three-member board. The first position is for a one-year term for calendar year 2008. The second term is to run from Jan. 1, 2008, until Dec. 31, 2009.

Trent A. Ward, 37, of 1408 W. Seneca St., Tiffin, died at 6:20 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007, at his home. Trent was born Oct. 13, 1970, in Toledo to Wayne D. and Gertrude “Trudi” (Hassmann) Ward. They survive in Tiffin.

Ho! Ho! Ho! Due to a strong jet stream, Santa arrived early in Tiffin and brought some politicians with him to march in Saturday’s Christmas parade. Gov. Ted Strickland walked in the parade as he campaigned for and alongside Robin Weirauch. Bob Latta also marched.
