    COSHOCTON — The 13th annual Coshocton County Relay for Life kicks off tonight at the Coshocton County Fairgrounds. The event consists of 40 area teams walking or running relay style for 24 hours to raise money for the American Cancer Society's fight against cancer. This year's goal is to raise $145,000.

The foundation awarded $90,000 in grants to domestic violence shelters in east central, southeastern and eastern Ohio to help organizations run their day-to-day operations and lend critical support to individuals, children and families in crisis.

    Zach Gonter became the first person ever from Coshocton County to compete in the state powerlifting qualifying tournament for the Special Olympics Powerlifting Competition on Sunday, May 4. Gonter bench pressed 165 pounds to win the gold medal and also took the gold in the combination bench and dead lift. He added a bronze in the dead lift with 170 pounds.

    "Art has always been a part of my life," said Shara Prindle. "Some of my earliest memories are from being at my grandma's house. She had one of those lighted drawing boxes and I would sit there and draw cartoons and anything else I could trace on that board." Prindle says her aunt got her a drawing kit when she was about 10 years old. After that, drawing became her childhood escape.
