Wisconsin School Rankings

Wisconsin Public K-12 School Rankings are based on the School Performance Report provided by Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. There are two sets of rankings:

  • Standard Rankings:

      Kids
    • Elementary Schools: The percentages of fourth graders who are at the Advanced Level on the Reading, Language Arts, and Mathematics tests. Results are from the Wisconsin Knowledge and Concept Examination (WKCE).
    • Middle Schools: The percentages of eighth graders who are at the Advanced Level on the Reading, Language Arts, and Mathematics tests. Results are from the Wisconsin Knowledge and Concept Examination (WKCE).
    • High Schools: The percentages of tenth graders who are at the Advanced Level on the Reading, Language Arts, and Mathematics tests. Results are from the Wisconsin Knowledge and Concept Examination (WKCE).

    You have the option of (i) Ranking all schools in the State of Wisconsin (choose "All Counties" in the toolbar to the left), (ii) Comparing individual counties (choose "County Vs. County"), and (iii) Comparing all schools in a given county (choose, for example, "Milwaukee" county). To view FREE public school rankings from a prior year, simply click on the "Rank" button on the toolbar to the left. The most recent rankings are available for subscribers only. Subscription fee is $8.33/month (1-year term). Sign up here.


  • Customized Rankings (Subscribers Only) are based on the following:

      Learning
    • Elementary Schools: Can choose any or all of the following: 4th grade Reading, Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies; Can choose between Advanced Level or Proficiency Level (and above).
    • Middle Schools: Can choose any or all of the following: 8th grade Reading, Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies; Can choose between Advanced Level or Proficiency Level (and above).
    • High Schools: Can choose any or all of the following: 10th grade Reading, Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies; Can choose between Advanced Level or Proficiency Level (and above).
