Washington School Rankings

Washington Public K-12 School Rankings are based on the Washington State School Report Card provided by Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction. There are two sets of rankings:

  • Standard Rankings:

      Kids
    • Elementary Schools: Percentages of 4th grade students at Level 4 (above standard) in Reading and Mathematics.
    • Middle Schools: Percentages of 7th grade students at Level 4 (above standard) in Reading and Mathematics.
    • High Schools: Percentages of 10th grade students at Level 4 (above standard) in Reading, Mathematics, and Science.

    You have the option of (i) Ranking all schools in the State of Washington (choose "All Counties" in the toolbar to the left), (ii) Comparing individual counties (choose "County Vs. County"), and (iii) Comparing all schools in a given county (choose, for example, "King" County). To view FREE public school rankings from a prior year, simply click on the "Rank" button on the toolbar to the left. The most recent rankings are available for subscribers only. Subscription fee is $8.33/month (1-year term). Sign up here.


  • Customized Rankings (Subscribers Only) are based on the following:

      Learning
    • Elementary Schools: Can choose any or all of the following for Grade 4: Reading Level 4; Reading Percent Meeting Standard; Mathematics Level 4; Mathematics Percent Meeting Standard; Writing Percent Meeting Standard; Listening Percent Meeting Standard.
    • Middle Schools: Can choose any or all of the following: Grade 7; Reading Level 4; Reading Percent Meeting Standard; Mathematics Level 4; Mathematics Percent Meeting Standard; Writing Percent Meeting Standard; Listening Percent Meeting Standard. Also included are results for 8th Grade Science Level 4 and Percent Meeting Standard.
    • High Schools: Can choose any or all of the following: Grade 10: Reading Level 4; Reading Percent Meeting Standard; Mathematics Level 4; Mathematics Percent Meeting Standard; Science Level 4; Science Percent Meeting Standard; Writing Percent Meeting Standard; Listening Percent Meeting Standard.

    With the Customized Ranking, you can choose any or all of the counties. Subscription fee is $8.33/month (1-year term). Sign up here.

Notes:
  • Results presented on this site are for All Students; we do not break down the results for different racial/gender/economic groups.
  • Schools with fewer than 10 students taking each test are not included.
  • Science scores are not available prior to 2003.
