Virginia School Rankings

Virginia Public K-12 School Rankings are based on data from the Standard of Learning (SOL) Test provided by the Virginia Department of Education. There are two sets of rankings:

  • The Standard Rankings are based on the following:

      Kids
    • Elementary Schools: The percentages of third and fifth graders who passed the English and Mathematics parts of the SOL test.
    • Middle Schools: The percentages of eighth graders who passed the English and Mathematics parts of the SOL test.
    • High Schools: The percentages of students who passed the English and Algebra II parts of the SOL test.

You have the option of (i) Ranking all schools in the State of Virginia (choose "All Counties" in the toolbar to the left), (ii) Comparing individual counties (choose "Division Vs. Division"), and (iii) Comparing all schools in a given division (choose, for example, "Fairfax"). To view FREE public school rankings from a prior year, simply click on the "Rank" button on the toolbar to the left. The most recent rankings are available for subscribers only. Subscription fee is $8.33/month (1-year term). Sign up here.

  • The Customized Rankings (Subscribers Only) are based on the following:
