Tennessee School Rankings
Tennessee Public K-12 School Rankings
are based on the
Report Card
provided by the
TN Department of Education.
There are two sets of rankings:

Standard Rankings:
- Elementary Schools:
Percentage of students at the Proficient Level and above in Math and Reading/Language;
- Middle Schools:
Percentage of students at the Proficient Level and above in Math and Reading/Language;
- High Schools:
Percentage of students at the Advanced Level in Math (Algebra I), Science (Biology I)
and English (English II);
You have the option of (i) Ranking all schools in the State
of Tennessee (choose "All Systems" in the toolbar to the left),
(ii) Comparing individual systems (choose "System Vs. System"), and
(iii) Comparing all schools in a given System (choose, for example,
"Shelby County").
To view FREE public school rankings from a prior year, simply
click on the "Rank" button on the toolbar to the left. The
most recent rankings are available for subscribers only.

Customized Rankings (Subscribers Only)
are based on the following:
- Elementary Schools:
Can choose any or all of the following:
Math and Reading/Language;
Percentage of students at the Proficient Level and above;
- Middle Schools:
Can choose any or all of the following:
Math and Reading/Language;
Percentage of students at the Proficient Level and above;
- High Schools:
Can choose any or all of the following:
Math (Algebra I), Science (Biology I), and English (English II);
Percentage of students at the Advanced Level;
With the Customized Ranking, you can choose any or all of the systems.
Subscription fee is $8.33/month (1-year term).

Notes:
- Results presented on this site are for All Students; we do
not break down the results for different racial/gender/economic groups.
- The "System Vs. System" scores for Elementary and Middle schools include all
students from Kindergarten through 8th grade.
- For some schools, the scores are capped at 95%.
- A school is considered an Elementary school if the lowest grade served is
either Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, or 3rd grade.
- A school is considered a Middle school if the lowest grade served is
7th or lower and the highest grade served is 8th or higher.
- A school is considered a High school if the highest grade served is
11th or higher.
- Some schools are classified in more than one level.
- In 2003 and 2004, the high school scores include first time test takers
only (Proficient level and Advanced level).
In 2005, the high school scores include all test takers
(Advanced level).
