South Carolina Public K-12 School Rankings are based on data from the School Report Cards provided by South Carolina Department of Education. There are two sets of rankings:

Standard Rankings:
- Elementary Schools: Advanced level in English and Math.
- Middle Schools: Advanced level in English and Math.
- High Schools: Exit Exam (2002 and 2003), High School Assessment Program-HSAP (2004 and later).
You have the option of (i) Ranking all schools in the State of South Carolina (choose "All Counties" in the toolbar to the left), (ii) Comparing individual counties (choose "County Vs. County"), and (iii) Comparing all schools in a given county (choose, for example, "Charleston" County). To view FREE public school rankings from a prior year, simply click on the "Rank" button on the toolbar to the left. The most recent rankings are available for subscribers only. Customized Rankings (Subscribers Only)
are based on the following:
- Elementary Schools: Advanced, proficient and basic level in English and Math.
- Middle Schools: Advanced, proficient and basic level in English and Math.
- High Schools: Exit Exam (2002 and 2003), High School Assessment Program-HSAP (2004 and later).

Notes:
- The scores are percentages of students passing each test.
- County scores are calculated from the average scores of schools in the county. This may not represent the true test results for the counties since student population varies from school to school.
- Results presented on this site are for All Students; we do not break down the results for different racial/gender/economic groups.
- The scores of the Exit Exam for 2002 and 2003 are scores for passing 3 subtests (Reading, Math and Writing).
- The scores of the HSAP for 2004 and later are scores for passing 2 subtests (English/Language Art and Math).
