Montana Public K-12 School Rankings are based on data from the Criterion-Referenced Test (CRT) provided by Montana Office of Public Instruction. There are two sets of rankings:

Standard Rankings:
- Elementary Schools: Advanced level in Reading and Math.
- Middle Schools: Advanced level in Reading and Math.
- High Schools: Advanced level in Reading and Math.
You have the option of (i) Ranking all schools in the State of Montana (choose "All Counties" in the toolbar to the left), (ii) Comparing individual counties (choose "County Vs. County"), and (iii) Comparing all schools in a given county (choose, for example, "Yellowstone" County). To view FREE public school rankings from a prior year, simply click on the "Rank" button on the toolbar to the left. The most recent rankings are available for subscribers only. Subscription fee is $8.33/month (1-year term). Sign up here.

Customized Rankings (Subscribers Only)
are based on the following:
- Elementary Schools: Advanced and proficient level in Reading and Math.
- Middle Schools: Advanced and proficient level in Reading and Math.
- High Schools: Advanced and proficient level in Reading and Math.
With the Customized Ranking, you can choose any or all of the counties. Subscription fee is $8.33/month (1-year term). Sign up here.
Notes:- The scores are percentages of students passing each test.
- County scores are calculated from the average scores of schools in the county. This may not represent the true test results for the counties since student population varies from school to school.
- Results presented on this site are for All Students; we do not break down the results for different racial/gender/economic groups.
