| Overall the school is alright. Most of the teachers are good and genuinely care about the quality of the education. The principal is lacking. She seems confused about a lot of things most of the time. It seems as though things might be a bit too much for her. The communication level is poor. Many notices do not make it to the kids until the day prior to an event, if at all. The office staff seem to be too busy to acknowledge you if your standing at the front counter and pay no attention if you just walk on back to the classrooms. I have done this personally several times and have never been questioned or stopped. If you do manage to speak to the staff they seem inconvenienced by your presence. The administration does not seem supportive of the Safe Key before and after school program and does not relay crucial information to them about things going on around the school. For example, earlier this year there was a truck that was following children home and lingering around the school. The school sent a notice home with the kids and it was on the news. Yet, the principal failed to notify the Safe Key staff of this. The Safe Key site supervisor found out on her own over a week later. Thus potentially placing the children in jeopardy due to lack of communication. Children have been released to adults without checking proper identification or even checking if that person is authorized to pick up that child. This has happened to more than one child. I will be tranferring my child to another school for the next year. The past 3 have been more than enough for us. |
