C. Wayne Collier Elementary School, Mar 12, 2010
DO NOT ENROLL YOUR CHILDREN HERE! Two of my children have attended this school. After kindergarten, I withdrew my son and enrolled him in private school. My daughter has high functioning autism and was recommended by the IEP staff to be placed in a regular kindergarten classroom. On paper the school has an "open door policy" to allow parents into the classrooms but I had to fight the principal to visit the classrooms. I had to threaten to involve a lawyer before she would allow me to visit. Then, during my visit, she told me that because my child had autism she would be placed in the self-contained classroom. The principal labeled my child and was willing to place her in a class that was clearly not the right place for her without assessing or meeting her. Clearly, the administration is not looking out for the children's best needs. My daughter will not be back next year.
