Douglass High School reaally does needs improvement!!!!, Feb 18, 2009
This is a good school but for all the wrong reasons. The teachers are really great, they teach us to the best of their abilities. The PROBLEM is the students aren't getting the proper discipline that's needed to give those who want to learn the opportunity to, and if not then they need to go else where. why waste time in school when your not even learning anything!!!!!

What I know about Douglass High School, Sep 28, 2007
Well I was going to Douglass for three years. Before the new principle came I was doing well in all my classes but I got kicked out when he came. Right now I go to job corps and I am doing just fine with these different people. I would just like to say if I come back to Atlanta I will not be visiting because it is so ridiculous. One more thing, my brother goes to that school now he is in the 10th grade. If he calls me and tell me that a student of yours is bothering him and you don't do anything and I am reporting it downtown. BYE!

I am a graduate of Frederick Douglass High School, May 30, 2007
I was a graduate of this school during the year of 04-05. I feel as though the teachers did what they felt best to do in order to prepare for the test. The only thing that I have to say is that may need to be enforced for future tests is that prep for major test, such as the GGT, needs to happen all year. There is no need for cramming and a lot of that did occur. Yes, I passed every portion of the test on the first time but every student isn't a test taker. Diagnostic testing during the beginning of the school year would be a good way to figure out which students are your good test takers, okay test takers and bad test takers so that the teachers will know exactly who to pin point and spend more time with in test prep time. There needs to be a system and a little more organization during crunch time for test takers.

And, I'd have to disagree with the previous statement. I don't feel as though student's success on tests have anything to do with whether teachers make subject matter boring or not. Learning has all to do with the student first. It doesn't matter if you may find something boring, everything in life isn't all fun and games. Discipline and willingness to learn is the key. Success is 40% teacher's responsibility and 60% is students drive and desire for education.

It's straight, May 26, 2006
Hi, I just want to say that Douglass is a good school. However I do feel that the students could have done better on the GGT'S. Because when I was there the teachers worked us, it's just that they put too much pressure on the students. So when test time came people frozed up and got nervous. I mean the test was not hard to me because I did not care about it. I mean I just wanted to give up with school. Why learning can't be fun, instead it's boring and makes lots of students give up.
