Sarasota is horrible for education, Dec 11, 2006 |
| I live here in Sarasota and my husband and I are thinking of relocating to North Carolina or back up North. I grew up in Massachusetts and I can't stand back and watch my kids settle for less of an education. My 4 year old is gifted if you have a gifted child Sarasota (Florida) period is not I REPEAT IS NOT a good city or state to move to, along with Georgia which ranks 50th in education and Florida is 49. I have not met as many high school drop outs under the age of 17 until I moved here. This is indeed true and sad. The students here graduate at a 9th grade level. I think 30 percent go to college. If you are a caring parent who values your children and education please don't move anywhere until you check out the school system. I will be moving next year after my lease is up for the sake of my 3 children. |
