Love Palos Verdes Peninsula High School, Mar 27, 2008 |
| Peninsula High School is an excellent school. I have had 2 children go through this school recently. It has the best offering of general, honors and AP classes. I had another of my children attend a high school in a neighboring district; she is a gifted student who was unable to take classes which she could have taken at Peninsula. 99% of the students from Peninsula go on to college. The atmosphere is one of positive academic goals. The on campus activities are too numerous to mention. This school is for everyone; there is an emphasis on success in whatever the students choose to do. My third child is not as serious as my other 2 children. He has had many positive experiences leading him to make a decision to go to college and keep up his grades. Great school. |

| This school used to have some very caring and talented teachers. But most of the respected teachers took early retirement about 1-2 years ago and are no longer teaching at this school. Now the school has several young, unexperienced teachers as well as experienced teachers with very poor teaching skills. The counselors and college career center are excellent. Most students receive outside tutoring in major subjects - paid for by their parents. This is where the real teaching is taking place and that explains the high test scores. This school used to be outstanding - not anymore. |
